Echoes of Africa

Echoes of Africa‍‍ is more than a wildlife coffee table book. It is a call to protect the wild places that make our world extraordinary.

Created from nearly a decade of our travels across sub Saharan Africa, the book captures the continent’s remarkable wildlife and the landscapes they call home. Africa is home to roughly a quarter of the world’s biodiversity, including about 20 percent of the world’s mammal species and 15 percent of its birds. These images celebrate the beauty, power, and fragility of ecosystems that are increasingly under threat.

Today, 73 percent of monitored wildlife populations have declined in the last 50 years. If we do not act now, much of the natural world we know today may disappear within our lifetime. This book is our small way of helping ensure that these species and landscapes continue to exist for generations to come.

All proceeds from the sale of Echoes of Africa will be donated to Wild Impact, an organisation dedicated to protecting wildlife, conserving habitats, and supporting the communities that live alongside them. The proceeds will support Harmony with Wildlife programme, which addresses human–wildlife conflict in communities living alongside conservation areas. Through this initiative, we install camera traps that monitor wildlife movement in community areas. The images and data help researchers and communities better understand which species move through these landscapes and develop strategies to reduce the loss of livestock and crops and potential harm to the wildlife. Importantly, the programme also incorporates a community compensation and reward model that celebrates wildlife sightings, encouraging communities to value and protect wildlife rather than resorting to harm.

Echoes of Africa makes a thoughtful gift for housewarmings, Christmas, and other festive occasions. Each copy is not only a celebration of Africa’s wild places, but also a contribution towards protecting them.
